About

About

The Cambridgeshire Police Shrievalty Trust is a registered charity which was formed in 1999 to improve community safety in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The name of the Trust reflects the fact that two organisations were primarily responsible for its creation – Cambridgeshire Constabulary and The Office of High Sheriff. The Bobby Scheme was established in 2001 by the Cambridgeshire Police Shrievalty Trust and so far, has helped secure over 34,000 homes.

The Bobby Scheme’s aim is to reduce crime and the fear of crime, of older, vulnerable, and disabled people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, thereby improving their quality of life, personal safety, and increasing independence.

The Bobby Scheme makes a tremendous impact on people’s lives - our independent charity services are tangible, caring, and empowering. homes of older, vulnerable people and domestic abuse victims in our county. To reduce the opportunities for crime in the community and reduce repeat incidents of crime.

Our Approach

Our Approach

Our staff are retired officers. They wear a uniform and have clear identification. They will drive a livered van and will not call without prior arrangement unless invited to do so.

Following an appointment set up by the Bobby Scheme office staff, one of our skilled staff will visit, they will assess, advise, and install whatever is needed in the way of locks, door chains, bolts, and window alarms. More recently Ring products used in conjunction with WI-FI and smart devices have become very popular, however these products although can be installed free of charge, require a payment which is charged at the cost price.

Fire Prevention

Fire Prevention & Priority Service Register.

The Bobby Scheme works with Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service to improve fire safety awareness. When our staff visit your property, they will check as well as fit smoke alarms, carbon monoxide monitors and heat detectors, where appropriate. If a fire safety assessment is required, they will refer the occupant to Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service (CFRS).

Also working in partnership with Anglian Water, our staff will introduce and register residents to the Anglian Water Priority Service Register. This will help residents to be protected against bogus callers, and assist if they are in need of financial assistance with their water bills.
